Education…Why is Education Important 4 you…The Mystery Unveiled

Education

The great poet Byron once famously asserted that ‘One who will not reason is a bigot, and one who does
not reason is a slave’. The latter meaning is clear: ignorance makes us an open target for the
exploitation of others. In today’s world of corporates and sprawling businesses, the world we inhabit
an economy of information, hence the famous slogan goes that ‘information is power’. Whosoever
masters information and effectively uses it is rewarded with great financial gain, as with real estate
agents who do not do the physical beseechingly painful hard work, yet they are amply rewarded for the
mere fact of possessing information which connects one high-spending consumer with a high-value
service provider.

How can education help you in your business in future?

However, there is the flip side of this picture as well: poor workers who do not possess adequate
information regarding labor laws, higher opportunities of income at different sites, or standardized
safety procedures. This illiteracy and ignorance leave them vulnerable to the exploitation of greedy
contractors and middlemen.

The same situation is prevalent with our farmers, who are cheated out by middlemen with paltry prices because of their ignorance of the value of their produce in cities as well as their inability to grasp how to run a business on a large scale. The major reason for the continuance of this oppression is the lack of education. With adequate knowledge, the workers and farmers of India
can emancipate themselves and better their conditions like their counterparts in first-world nations
such as New Zealand without recourse to any governmental help.

Pen is mightier than the sword.

Education shines the flame of progress in the stygian backwaters of prejudice and immorality. It aids
women and other minorities to become aware of their dilapidated conditions, to formulate social
justice initiatives of their own, and to secure working positions adequate to their privileged
counterparts. Inspirations like Savitribai Phule, Malala Yousafzai, and Alice Von Hildebrand are a
testament to the ways how education lets a person transcend the unjust limits set on them by their
societal conditions.

Education

Education gives you the knowledge to know the Ethics behind the work you do?

But education of course is not just utilitarian recourse to make money and better one’s social status: it
is precisely this flawed conception of the use of education which leads to people devaluing education,
calling it worthless, and contemptuously saying things like ‘A single piece of paper cannot determine
my future’.

When education is seen as merely a means to get a certification which leads to securing a
job, a market which has only limited jobs to offer seems like a refutation of all the lofty things said in the
name of education.

Yet classical education, as practised in theGreekpolis, neverwas a means to merely secure a financial
position. Education was thought of as transforming a savage into a personam (person) – a person
without education was considered susceptible to the sways of any passions or propaganda, and not fit
to be a part of democracy.

To have a stake in governing society, a person was required to undertake an
education whose primary aim was for a person to master logic, maths, sciences, etc.so that they could
understand any situation impartially, for asPascal reminds us ‘The first moral duty is to think clearly’.

After having mastered these skills, one was given in to understanding morals ,philosophy, aesthetics,
logic, rhetoric, etc.so that a man may become virtuous, i.e. he is trained to desire the right things at the
right times in the right ways in the right proportion. Only such a person, who had undertaken such an
education ,was called ‘educated’.

Education is a path to success

If we take this idea of education, we will be quick to realise that it is precisely a lack of true education
that leads to the ills of society, ourpolitical inadequacy, bureaucratic corruption, fighting over religions,
oppression of women and minorities, casteism and all other evils of human society.

If our system returns to the true idea of education,we will not only have financially stable individuals, but also those
who will have an enlarged moral conscience which will make the world a better place for all of us.This is
the true and eternal value of education for us.
Hence,to be educated is to be empowered, physically, morally and spiritually,to be invincible in the face
of calamities,to be courageous enough to look every problem in the eye and iterate,
‘ Come,try me!’ .

And to disregard education is like passing the world with our eyes closed, it is denying our existence of
the very prospect of actually existing, it is turning ourselves blind to the beautiful and poignant
multitudes of the world ,to live it in pieces ,without ever being at peace.
